About

Fugitive Ink was a blog (floreat 2004-2010, now archived), written by Barendina Smedley. It sought to address issues of politics, art, literature and heritage from an idiosyncratic, vaguely Tory perspective.

It is no longer active, and hasn’t been for a long time, but it remains here, fossilised like some faintly horrific insect cased in murky amber, as a monument to the ever-more-distant distant past and how things seemed back then.

I just read the obit on Kenneth Noland after returning to Toronto from seeing the Rothko exhibition in Paris.
The article on Noland made my heart soar and I would like to know who wrote it.
I believe in these paintings and have spent most of my life trying to point to them in a wish to share my joy.
Whoever wrote that article is welcome to visit me in Toronto and I will open my collection to them.

  2. Thanks for the kind comment. I wrote the article, albeit many years ago now. I’m so glad it connected with you in that way.
